Guestbook

We like our little yellow cottage and we hope our guests enjoy staying there as much as we do. We look forward to hearing from you.

  • We had a lovely time staying in peaceful Sandgate. Incredible to be so close to the sea in such a picturesque and cosy cottage. We really enjoyed feeling like we were staying in someone's cherished home and particularly appreciated all the books, well-stocked kitchen and pretty front garden. There are plenty of nice cafes and pubs on the doorstep and lots of fun to be had for families looking for a classic seaside holiday. The adventure playground along the coastal walk, adventure golf, romney, hythe and dymchurch railway and sunny sands beach were particular highlights! Thank you so much for a really fun and relaxing stay.

  • This home in Sandgate was amazing, and really great value for what we paid! The home is super cosy with lots of space for at least four people, and it is so close to the beach. Would come back for sure, and would definitely recommend!

    — Tara Macinis, 14 Aug 2025
  • You could not get a more perfect location, as this cottage is right next to the beach. I could have watched the sea from the lovely window sea for hours! Sandgate is a lovely place, which we visit often and we'll be booking this place again for sure! The house itself is gorgeous and extremely homely, with everything we needed (and more!) for our family. The host was very, very helpful and were extremely responsive. We can't wait to come back!

  • Very sweet cottage with all amenities in a good beach location. John Dory wine bar/restaurant was excellent. Lovely 3 hour walk to Saltwood Castle from the cottage. Rock Salt restaurant in Folkstone also excellent.

  • Lovely cottage. Great amenities. Seaside lovely. Local cafe nearby called Loaf was fantastic too.

    — Yusef Badi, 15 May 2025
  • This is our third time staying in the cottage-it’s in the perfect location right by the beach and really homely and cosy (but also plenty of space for the 4 of us). Really well equipped too. Can’t fault it.

    — Helen T, 05 May 2025
  • Lovely cottage right on the beach. Coffee shops, deli, restaurants etc of Sandgate a few mins walk away on the High St. Kitchen well equipped and High chair provided. Water pressure in shower/ bath was excellent. Toilets upstairs and downstairs was a bonus. We were staying with our one and three year olds. The stairs are steep so it was good that stairgates were provided (we did need to screw them into the fittings ourselves). Thanks for a lovely weekend!

  • A Lovely Stay at Sea View Cottage 🌊🏡 My family and I had the pleasure of staying at Sea View Cottage in Hythe, and we had a wonderful time! The cottage is beautifully decorated and well-maintained, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the stunning sea views from the windows - watching the sunset was simply breathtaking. The cottage is well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including a lovely coffee machine.

  • Our stay at the little yellow cottage by the sea was pure magic. This unexpected haven gave our little family a much-needed breath of peace and joy. With our two young children, we spent mornings throwing stones into the sea and wandering the peaceful promenade just steps away. The location was perfect: close to an adventure playground and a short drive (or walk) to Folkestone, taking in Rana Begum’s Beach hut on route and ending the amazing harbour. The cottage itself was full of light and charm, a cosy retreat after days of exploring. Coffee and cake at Loaf, lunch at The Ship Inn. Super easy to get a grocery delivery from Waitrose via Deliveroo (a blessing with tired children). The kids were enchanted. So were we. We’ll definitely be back.

  • Very quaint little cottage, lovely view of the water and good access to local coffee shops & restaurants. Ideal for a weekend break.

    — Daniel Nikolareas, 20 Apr 2025
  • We really enjoyed are visit to Fiona’s cottage. It’s a loved and lovely cottage. It’s also in a great location to explore this bit of coastline. We visited Dungeness, Folkestone and samphire hoe (the eurotunnel nature reserve). We were only staying for the weekend but we’ll be back to visit for longer next time. Thank you.

  • We loved staying in this very cosy house by the sea. The location was so convenient for cafes and shops and good bus and train transport. We had no car but Hythe and Folkestone walkable and on a good bus route. The next time we will go on the steam railway at Hythe! It was just lovely to be a few yards from the beach and see the sea from the cottage. We liked Sandgate very much for walks and cafes. It was even nicer than we had expected. We hope to return soon.

    — Sally Chubb, 08 Oct 2024
  • Lovely cottage. Full of character and so many thoughtful additions to make you feel at home. Perfect location with cafés, restaurants, pubs and shops on your doorstep plus great for walks for all abilities.

  • We enjoyed our stay, although we experienced a gas leak in the house. The owner got onto the gas authority immediately. Unfortunately we had to stay in the house while the problems were fixed, thus missing out on our first dinner with our English family . The owner kept in touch with us throughout

  • My family had an absolutely wonderful stay over a bank holiday weekend. The house fit 2 adults and 3 children very well! We loved the original features of the home and the renovations were outstanding. We spent a full day at Dover Castle and had plenty of food options nearby when we returned that evening. We walked along the beach to Adventure Park in Folkstone and enjoyed that very much. The trip was fun filled but also very relaxing! The home had absolutely everything we needed for our stay. My children were quite sad to leave and are already asking when we can go back! Thank you so much to the incredible hosts for their part in making such wonderful family memories.

  • I cannot recommend this delightful holiday property more than is possible.
The cottage was very homely and its position to the beach and also walking distance to Folkestone or Hythe added to our enjoyment,
This is in the top 5 of our cottage holidays.

The kitchen was well equipped, beds comfortable, living room cosy. The window nook was a lovely place to enjoy coffee and a book. Steps away from the beach. Would recommend!

  • Lovely cottage by the sea with good views of the sunsets.
    Great location for enjoying Sandgate.

    — Alison, 20 Jan 2022
  • We thought the property was beautiful. Very cosy, clean and comfortable. We were fortunate that the weather was particularly nice for November, we even managed a dip in the channel....not for the faint hearted.

    Would definitely recommend.

Only downside was no private parking space, but with £5 a day charge in the adjacent car park it wasn't a problem for us for a couple of days.

    — Samantha F., 20 Nov 2021
  • We loved the cottage, great location, really comfortable, nice sea views and perfect for a relaxing break. We would definitely recommend it and consider coming again.

    — Hugh Weldon, 18 Oct 2021
  • Fantastic location and the views from the windows were so lovely. The accomodation was stylish, comfortable and cosy. Good local ammenities and beach just a hop skip and a jump away.

    — Stuart, 07 Sep 2021
  • This lovely old cottage provided us a beautiful sea-view sun-trap and a cool retreat during the heatwave. There is more space than the listing suggests and the provision is quirky, quality and generous. Ornaments and books and pictures all reflect the specific setting. If you want clinical, generic and sleek, look elsewhere. We spent a comfortable week, pottering about happily and watching the world go by.

    — Laura, 20 Jul 2021
  • Just arrived home after 3 nights at this pretty cottage. Lovely sea views, very cosy and comfortable, nearby restaurants are great and a hot chocolate at the Boat House Cafe whilst watching the world go by is always good. I highly recommend The Little Yellow Cottage.

  • We stayed in this quaint little cottage with our two granddaughters during half term. We know the area having lived nearby for over 38 years.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the cottage and even though it is old and creaky we always felt warm and cosy here just what we wanted.
The cottage is in an ideal positionfor the beach, and nearby holiday attractions and shopping facilities. It is also equipped with everything you may need during your stay.
Thankyou for sharing your lovely cottage with us and we hope to return again.

The local shop is a real bonus for the morning papers and little needs. We had a lovely meal at Sandgate Vaults - great beer at the Microbar and a very nice meal at the Norfolk Inn.
